Rewrite, rephrase or translate text by voice, right where you’re writing

Magic Typing changes the text you’ve selected, or writes something new at your cursor, from what you say. No copying into ChatGPT and back.

Magic Typing changes text by voice, right where it is. Select a message, hold your key and say how you want it changed, and the new version replaces the old one. With nothing selected, say what you want written, and it’s typed at your cursor.

If you already use ChatGPT for this, you know the routine: copy the text, open ChatGPT, paste it, ask, copy the answer, go back and paste it over. The AI part is quick. Everything around it isn’t. Magic Typing skips the trip.

Change what you’ve selected

Let’s say you’ve typed a quick note to a colleague in a hurry:

Sam, deadline’s moved to Friday. Need your comments by Thursday afternoon.

It’s right, but a bit blunt. Select it, hold your key (you choose which in Settings) and say:

Make this friendlier.

You might get something like:

Hi Sam, quick heads-up: the deadline has moved to Friday. Could you send me your comments by Thursday afternoon? Thanks!

There are no commands to memorise. Say it in plain words, the way you’d ask a colleague: “make this shorter”, “fix the grammar”, “turn this into three bullet points”.

VoiceVibe uses one key for all of its modes. You choose Magic Typing when you start, or give it a key of its own.

Make an email more professional

The same works for longer text. Select a draft email and say “make this more professional, and keep it short”. Or take a Slack message that says sorry three times, and say “make this sound more confident”.

Add emojis

Select a message and say “add some fitting emojis”, and it picks them for you. Or describe the ones you want: “add a mind-blown emoji at the end” or “put a strong-arm emoji after the first line”. You don’t need to know what an emoji is called; describe it, and it’s typed. With nothing selected, just say “party emoji”, and one appears at your cursor.

Translate it

Writing to someone who’d rather read another language? Select the message and say “translate to French”. Or Spanish, Japanese, German and more. The translation replaces the original, right where it was. And if you’d like to hear how it sounds, VoiceVibe can read it aloud, too.

Write something new at your cursor

You don’t have to select anything. Click where you want the text, hold your key and say what you need:

Write a short, friendly message to Sam. The deadline has moved to Friday, and I need comments by Thursday afternoon.

The message is typed where your cursor is, ready to edit or send.

Give it something to look at

A reply is easier to write when it can see what you’re replying to. Add a screenshot of the email, then say “write a reply declining the meeting and suggest Thursday instead”. You can also give it selected text, what’s on your clipboard, or a file such as a PDF or a Word document.

When the result belongs somewhere else

Magic Typing puts its result where you’re typing. Its sibling, Magic Clipboard, does the same work but puts the result on your clipboard, and nothing on screen changes. That’s handy when you’re reading something you can’t type into, like a PDF or a web page, or when you want to keep the original as it is. Then paste the result wherever you need it.

Try it
